Reviewing the 11 Recommendations For Hockey Canada

In 1999, the Open Ice Summit revised the World Hockey Summit with 11 recommendations for Hockey Canada. On the panel who discussed these recommendations included the NHL, NHLPA, CHL and Hockey Canada members.

After 11 years, the recommendations have finally been highlighted to revise the 2010 World Hockey Summit accordingly. Although it is not officially stated what the changes that will be made are, it is certain that some consideration will be made according to these recommendations.

Yahoo Sports has summarised five of the major outcomes from the 11 recommendations, which will hopefully be implemented into the 2010 World Hockey Summit. These include new rules and regulations made on all parties involved in the summit and perhaps costs and restrictions to be made in order to make it more fair for players.

Melody Davidson Expectations Grow With The Women’s Canadian Hockey Team

After the great achievements and success from the Canadian hockey team at the Vancouver 2010, Melody Davidson is setting new goals. Davidson, who is the coach of the gold medal winning team, has set higher expectations to continue their success in the next few years to come.

Although the achievement of winning a gold medal cannot be topped, the Canadian coach believes that the goals are more than just winning medals, but rather a way to empower women in the sports industry.

Pushing these boundaries especially with young team players including Marie-Phillip Poulin, 19 and Jocelyne Lamoureux, 21, has it's pros and cons which Melody Davidson is finding out. Regardless of what media has put forth, Davidson is a firm believer that the achievements of young players continues to grow through her positive encouragement, which has led them to success at a much young age than any other players in the past.

Young Hockey Players Are Faced With Mental Health Issues

For the hockey world, the sport plays such an important role in developing young hockey enthusiasts who have a dream goal to take part in the sport. The dedication and hard work from both the coaches and players can be seen at the games, but there is so much more involved mentally and emotionally, which has made many concerned about the negative effects on young hockey players.

The concern has recently been escalated which has made the Molson World Hockey Summit temporarily close for four days in order to address some of the arising issues. Discussion about having age restrictions for players may be the bitter sweet result to resolve the issue which has been ongoing for the past few months.
