During a recent meeting with management, Sabres owner Terry Pegula tried to make something clear. He said he was not moving back from his passion to win the Stanley Cup, but also he did not want his troops to panic over their futures if they anyway failed early in the season.
He was in the middle of pacifying his people and explaining that he had no demands about winning now when Sabres coach Lindy Ruff stopped him.
The Sabres don't have irresistible talent. The Sabres aren't going to start the season as the NHL's finest team. But they are not far away, either. The Sabres will break in the season just as competent of winning it all as any other team.

Last year, the NHL Sabres were impressive at the end of the regular season and promise to be way better this time around.
The Sabres have, since many years, been inactive at the free-agency market, but with the coming of a new owner for the Sabres, things seem ready to change. The Sabres have invested heavily in new players, in fact the Sabres have topped their cap by $3.6 million, which shows the dedication the owner has to the club's revival, like the freshly acquired $40 million defenseman Christian Ehrhoff.
Hopefully, for all Sabres fans, this year the Sabres shall have expensive trophies to display along with their newly got line-up of very expensive players.
